About the Shepherd

THIS WAS MY STORY:
I once had my own flock of Babydoll Southdown's (please visit my photo gallery). Each year I would look forward to when we sheared our sheep in the spring. I'd pick my favorite fleeces and start on them first. I had a couple of them that I absolutely loved working with, they had a good staple length, and a tremendous amount of loft to their fleece. They carded beautifully. Those were definitely my keepers.

Because sheep wool is an organic product and bio-degradable, the sheep wool that didn't make the cut to become yarn, ended up as mulch for my flower beds or garden. Babydoll Southdown in its raw form will compost in about 3-4 months in your gardens or flower beds. It also has the quality of resisting insects from ruining your gardens or plants too.

Those that were my keepers ended up in Batts like the photo below and used to needle felt or spin into yarn.
